Sustainability and Reducing our Carbon Pawprint

It’s hard not to ignore the carbon footprint (and paw print!) we leave on our planet. At DogFit, we look carefully at how we package and send out goods to our customers as well as the kit we stock and how we manufacture.

We wanted to share with you how DogFit are working towards making a difference.

DogFit Canicross Kit

When we designed our range of Canicross kit, we made the decision to manufacture in the UK. We are proud to say that all of the DogFit® harnesses, belts and lines are manufactured here by our team of highly skilled fabricators.

Our Virtual Challenge Medals

Join our monthly virtual challenges. Not only do we donate a percentage of the profits to charity, but our medals are 100% sustainable plant-based with wild flower seeds. So you can plant them after and enjoy the wild flowers that will grow. Find out more >> here

Packaging and despatch

All our parcels are sent out in packaging that is compostable.

What it means:
Compostable packaging is typically made from a number of renewable plant-based materials and/or bio-polymers. To be certified home compostable, a product must break down in home compost within 180 days and 90 days in commercial composting conditions.

Why it is important
Cardboard and paper products are a great addition to the backyard compost as it helps with the carbon-nitrogen ratio. Easily broken down in a compost, these products also tend to have chemical compounds removed from the product.

Ensuring success:
Sometimes people don’t notice that something is compostable, meaning it can sometimes end up in the landfill. If you don’t have a home compost, you can look at local options for communal compost sites, or somewhere you can drop off items for commercial composting.

Reusable:
If you need to send your kit back, the packaging has a double seal option so you can reuse.

Keeping Britain Tidy - #Pawsforourplanet

We believe it’s a privilege to be able to run in the countryside but time and time again we spot litter on our runs, such as discarded cans, bottles, and pockets. At DogFit HQ, we’ve also been thinking about how all of our customers could collectively make a difference.

Following the Keep Britain Tidy campaign DogFit launched our own initiative called #Pawsforourplanet.

How can you join in?
When you are out with your dog for a Canicross run or Canitrek, endeavour to pick up at least one discarded item of rubbish and dispose of it safely.

Please spread the word!
Please take a photo and share it on your Instagram & Facebook with the hashtags #pawsforourplanet #dogfituk. This will help us to spread the word and hopefully encourage others to join our mission.
