5 motivational tips for reaching your running goals in 2023
It’s a new year, and for many of us that means a new fitness goal.
Often these well-intentioned resolutions don’t make it into February but that doesn’t have to be the case for you…and by following these simple motivational tips, you and your four-legged personal trainer could soon be flying through 2023.
These tips aren’t exhaustive but they are ones that work for me and I wanted to share them with you in the hope that at least a couple of them help you to achieve your canicross goal this year, whether it’s your first 5k distance or you have bigger ambitions in mind such as running your first half or full marathon.
Whatever it may be, these motivational tips apply to any distance and any time of year.
Tip #1 : Believe and you will Achieve – set your goal, and believe you can reach it (even go as far as visualising you achieving your goal)
Tip #2 : Lay your running kit out the night before – this keeps your mind focussed and there’s less chance of backing out
Tip #3 : Write your ultimate goal down (eg 5k, 10k), but break it down into weeks, and pin it somewhere you can see it, such as your fridge – then tick off each week, effectively creating mini achievement goals for yourself
Tip #4 : Share your goal and subsequent achievements with your friends and social media groups – this is a great way to feel part of a community and also support one another in reaching your goals
Tip #5 : Set yourself a reward for achieving your goal – this could be a new pair of trainers for you or more DogFit kit 🙂
Remember, the most important thing is to have fun and to enjoy getting fitter with your dog!
Happy Canicrossing!
